Default Drive line Play

1990 944S2 230kmiles recent top end rebuild.

Hi..
Yesterday on my way during a 200 mile higway drive i started to notice the driveline having quite noticable slack.. when going from acelerating to coasting..
So today i invetigated and thru the inspection hole beside the transmission I can move the shaft..not much but i can..
with only one wheel up..that well i can move a little over 2 inches to each side..
seems quite alot..
just last time this car was driven the driveline was VERY tight.
the axels seems fine..tight.
Ive heard of Rack n Pinion adjusting.. Could this acount for the huge play in at the wheels?.
Did the 90 S2 come with the infamouse rubber center clutch?
Car drives fine otherwise..but i think im in for a fun clutch job

Thank you
Antonio P.

The original would have been rubber-centered... If you got 230Kmiles out of that - you OWE it a new (spring-centered) one!

Ya thanks..i figured it was the rubber one..
I do have plans to supercharge this car..Is there an upgraded clutch disk i can use for the potential increase in HP? like a 930 disk?

i think it is referrred to as the turboS spring centered clutch as opposed to the turbo spring centered clutch. the turbo clutch had problems as well so you want the S.
