Hi guys,
Making some baby steps on this headlight conversion. Got the lens, bracketry and bezel peice in CAD and have sent the files out to get some peices made via rapid prototyping (FDM). The plastic peices that come from the FDM will be molds to pull a composite bezel and a lexan lens of off (will use my vacuum former for the lexan). The bracketry will either be sheet metal or fiberglass - have not decided yet on that. Here's a picture from the CAD without the bracketry. Hopefully will have these on the car with a carbon fiber bezel before Christmas.

Let me know what your guys thoughts. I'm trying to decide if there will be enough interest in these to go to producing them, and if there is I'll see what next steps are, including becoming a sponsor of Rennlist, etc.
Thanks,
Ryan

Those look fun. Can't wait until we have on the car prototypes. Nice job!

So, your new headlights will remain in place (do not go up and down), and -- I am assuming -- covered by a clear plexiglass or glass cover? That is, similar to late-model 300zx. I am just trying to get a mental picture.

hello, yes these will eliminate the pop-ups altogether. the bracketry, bezel and lens bolt to existing holes and bosses on the body and the headlights adjusters are accessible with with the hood open.

nice work! have you done any work to figure out how large of an area of the lighting will be obscured by having the lights inset, relative to the pop up lights? I imagine that there will be dark areas directly in between the lights, as well as below the bezel.

Those look GREAT !! Any thoughts on making an all round universal bucket so we could put in whatever type light fixture we want to use. Something similar to a GT Racing bucket without the cutout for the light housing. Anything would be better produced than those things......ask me how I know....
