Question Removing late HVAC?

Removing dash was easy, this is not.

Is there way to remove the HVAC box as a one unit or do I need to remove it in pieces? Any tips on removing the thing would be greatly appreciated!

Default hvac removal

As I recall, it's not so bad once the blow is removed from the engine compartment. There is a bracket in the center that hold the under dash unit up. Disconnect the coolant hoses and remove the firewall plate.

Stupid me didn't take the camera with me when I went to the garage, grr.

Anyway, I removed the blower housing so I can now see the heater core. There is a plastic bracket going over it but I saw only one screw and a clip on it, which I removed but it doesn't move. What am I missing?

It all comes out as a big honking unit except for the pipes. The blower motor has to come out to remove the HVAC box. Cap the heater core pipes so that you dont do what I did and dump coolant all over the carpet. Its a bit of a fiddle to wiggle it out of there but it comes eventually.

Should the coolant pipes be disconnected at firewall or at the passenger side footwell connections?

There are like 2-4 bolts 10mm at the heater hoses and about 4 10mm on the inside.

out in the engine bay is where you pull the rubber hoses off, there will be a couple bolts there

Thats the same spot. You take the hoses in the engine bay off, and the pipes that poke through the firewall are inside. You have to unbolt the 4 bolts around that gasket on the firewall.

Theres some screws that hold the HVAC box in the car under the blower motor.
