Joe, they fit but they short out straight up. The hood is just close enough. Burned two.

I have had the best luck with the Interstate batteries, MTP-91. It is the biggest battery I could fit in the Porsche. The Optimas are too tall, and the posts are reversed. They did make one with the correct post orientation.

I'm not going to say that the Optima batteries are absolute crap, because there are a few that still swear by them. I don't know what the secret is, but they just don't work for me. I've had two in my Mustang, which only sees about 2K miles a year, and now they are both junk. Apparently Optimas cannot sit for any length of time. The car now has a cheap Duralast in it, and starts every darn time.

Amusing story, I have a dead "GOLD" Optima battery, not Yellow, that I received from an online retailer. It still has two years left on the warranty, and looks BRAND NEW, and quite stunning. It has a "Champion" label on it, an "Exide" sticker, and a big OPTIMA stamped in the top. I spent an entire day on the phone looking for warranty information. Champion won't claim it, Exide never made a spiralcell battery, and Optima denies it exists. I sent Optima a picture of the battery, part# and serial#, and they deemed it was a "prototype", and has NO warranty. I'll never buy another.

Maybe someday Ill make it to Milwakee, and toss it through their front window!
