Default CV Joint internals - different pieces ????

Are the ball bearings different in the inner and outer joints ???
Do the big spacers go on the inside or outside ??

Whats the difference ???

Also, should everything fall apart easily without removing clip ???

Seems that when removing the left a month ago there were some things wrong, and removing the right today found that maybe someone previously had mixed up some parts between the left and rear axles and inner/outer CVs. Nothing seems worn, but I am getting the knocking on outer wheel on left turns. The axle may be sliding too far and banging againt wheel shaft or transmission coupling and I wan't to get them put back together correctly also.

Any help is deeply appreciated.

EDIT: it's an 85.5/86 944

should be the same inside and outer assy's, and when i laid them all together, it seemed that n/a, turbo, s2 early and late where actually all the same- although i hear the turbo's have a hardened center shaft.
