Default I want to ask a wheel question too!!

Hello, I felt left out not asking some wheel questions like everyone else around here!
SO, I have 16" fuchs and Im not quite sure how wide they are?
Are they 7" and 8" like the 15" fuchs?

Also, when I got the car it had/has 205/55R16. And Ive noticed no one else running tires this narrow. I was thinking of running 205 on the front and something like 225 or 235 on the back? It's really a daily driver, but the rear tires dont fill the wells, and I would like them too.

And I need some snow tires soon, as that will probably start some time in the near future.

Just some stuff Ive been thinking about..

OH YEAH! The car will eventually be painted silver, what do you think about stripping the black off the rims? And just making them look polished? Bad idea?
Does it decrease the value of the rims?

im not shure about the rim size, but I think you should strip the black and paint the fuchs the same silver as the car with the polished lip.

i like the 911 style w/ the top edges of the spokes polished and the inner part black. On silver i hear it looks good...

Is your car an na, not a turbo? You could have got your Fuchs from a 911, so they might be 16x6 and 16x7. Just pull them off and look on the back.

I don't like the looks of polished spoke or chrome spoke Fuchs, but the only person whose opinion matters is your own.

most OEM rims have the width printed somewhere on the inside of the wheel, check to see that.

its hard to measure the rim width with a tire on it, combined witht he fact that you could measure a rim two different ways

IIRC "quoted" rim widths are in fact the inner widths

(PS. for winter, i suggest a narrow tire and rim with lots of sidewall, 15/16 by 6, and something like 195/65)

see if the wheels have a 911 part # on the back- if so most likely 6's and 7's- like the 914 in the picture had. If they are 944 fuchs- then you are lucky and they are 7's and 8's most likely. Plus it should say inside of the rim near the lug pattern what width/size they are...

Which rims are more desirable? the 911 or 944 style?
Oh, and why would 911 rims be narrower than 944? Just curious... does anyone know?

I believe that any original Fuch wheel would be incredibly desirable. Both the 944 and 911 Fuchs are in short short supply. The knock off reproduction Fuchs are heavier and not as desirable.

On the topic of the silver pedaled Fuchs, here's an awesome DIY I found in the 911 forums.

If they are genuine, they will have a serial number stamped on the back side of the spokes. The 911 Fuchs start with the number 911 IIRC. I believe that the 944 Fuchs also start with that number but can't recall.

doubt they are knock offs- hard to tell w/o pics though. 911's have more weight towards the back and the early ones had narrower bodies so the 6" fuchs were common. 944 16" fuchs are more desirable to us at least....especially the 8" rears...

They are very light weight. Making them very desirable for track cars.

Fuchs are forged. Light and strong. The n/a 944s came with 16x7 and 16x8 911 wheels as a rare option. I have 2 sets of 16s after I sold my 951 fuchs.
