Smile ATTN all Auto X'rs ...a question

hello all , today at a PCA Citrus Region event, i had the rear hatch pop open ...twice! i can only guess that it's from the body flexing, and allow one latch to release. then the other when it twist back to normal. under day to day condtions this doesn't happen.
my solution was to remove the gas struts during the event. is this common? i was accused of cheating ,by using the rear glass as an air brake...LOL

best to all

LOL!

It could be that the hatch pins are worn or they just need adjustment.

Same thing happened to another guy here (actually Kissimmee). He needed new latch pins.

for a temp. solution, you can tighten the hatch pin recivers (female end, I dont know its name) and they will stay shut until you untighten then.

after the 2nd time i realised i could just remove the gas struts. quick and easy.
but it does make me wonder just how much is the body twisting.
