Default Cam in a NA?

Does any company make a cam for 944's? or are they all custom made?

Any leads?

I'm most interested in the PH 277-14 or RH CS-14.
Theyre the highest rated ones that dont recommend turbo springs.
The RH needs a chip though.

I've always wondered about that myself. Never gotten around to asking Ian, because I would almost feel obligated to buy it. LOL

I think the S3-14 grind would be best suited for a street car. The shift in the powerband is why i am most interested in seeing the dyno sheets. I dont really want to sacrafice low end torque just to see a gain of 15hp (roughly speaking) at high rpm's. From what i have read previously about this grind is that you dont loose much of anything in the low end and the car continues to pull hard (as hard as a 8v n/a can pull) to redline.

I think with the upcoming availability of the 944Max chip tuning options.. a cam, exhaust and tailored chip combo might be able to net a few solid hp. How much is anyones guess. I doubt it would be a major difference over stock, but who knows.. it might be a viable option for a few reliable HP under $1k. (well maybe $1500 with an exhaust added on). The JME cam states 12-18hp over stock (for the S3-14 grind)... who knows, maybe a solid 20hp from a chip/exhaust/cam. Granted i would bet all of that power would be seen at 3500rpm +.

I have a feeling the PH-277 cams shift in power to the 4k rpm + range is a little extreme for a street car. 3600rpm is a bit more livable i guess with the S3-14.

Ive been so on and off about getting the JME cam for such a long time..but honestly i dont think i could ever sell my car..im in for the long haul! One of the major factors is any work done to the engine like a cam will throw me into the modified auto-x class with my PCA region. There.. i will be contending with a 968 powered 924S, a stripped out 944 and a few 914's that mean buisness.

Yeah I used Ian to get my rebuild parts. He saved me a bunch of money and trouble. He even sent me some parts I forgot and probably saved me a week of waiting.
