Default tie rod end knuckle install

I can't get my tie rod ends far enough into the knuckle (on the hub) to thread the nut on the lower side.

Do I need some sort of vice? is there a homebuilt tool I can rig up to do this? I've tried blowtorching the knuckle to no avail, how come I can't get it to seat deep enough to grab with the nut? (both sides!)

ambient temp was somewhere in the 60's when I was attempting this...

The tie rod comes in from the bottom and the nut attaches to the top.

Try flipping the tie rod end upside down.
