Dan, is this np going on the 951? If so, do a search and be aware of the negative effects of venting a 951 panel.

It looks cool, but that's not how it works.

Hey Dan-

Vented nose and filter in fender. I haven't been on the archives, but enough knowledgeable folks told me not to nose it.

Besides the fact that I haven't detailed my car since paint (bondo dust) and overspray on mushroom filter (will change out), I think you'll get the idea.

Either way, can't wait to see your handy work.

Well now I'm curious - what are the negative effects of venting a 951 nose panel? I presume it is pointless to vent a 944 nose panel except for more radiator cooling.

You should find someone to roll the edges out on the holes, otherwise you are going to have a stress concentration. Any real factory race car with holes in panels, you will see that they roll the edge. It is not just for looks.

As I mentioned, search intercooler under 951 forum.

Could you be more specific. Might as well say "Google it" given the number of responses when you type in intercooler in the 951 forum.

This in on a non-turbo, going to put an airbox under the NP.

My car has a 931 vented nose and i see noticably cooler temps when running at highway speeds, probably close to 10 degrees cooler than i used to get (this reading off my VDO gauge tapped into the upper radiator hose).

Another interesting note.. i have popped the hood after long drives and the airbox is COOL to the touch. Something to consider i guess with the placement of a larger air filter debate.

I'm going to be honest - I'm mainly doing it because I like the way it looks. Putting the airbox there does two things for me.

1. Gets it out of the way - thing takes alot of room under there, make it easier to work on without it.

2. Gives me some kind of valid reason to vent the panel.
