It's basically a supercharger. Slapping on a turbo/supercharger is only half of the equation though...tuning a NA for boost would be a major pain in the a$$.

Novel idea, but I would insist on seeing a dynograph w/ AF before I shelled out $1500+ for a kit.

Woah... Thomas Knight. I havent heard that name in a while. TK (Now known as boosthead) used to produce turbocharger kits for the late model Mazda MX-6's and Ford Probes. He had alot of interesting implementations and ideas for the cars V6 model. His products never really caught on with the community since they were fairly expensive and the fan base wasnt really all that estiblished yet. Sometime probably 5 years ago or so he stopped making these kits, most likely to pursue his electric turbocharger. He then re-immerged with his electric turbo and a whole host of supercharger kits but his turbos days were long gone (Or atleast as far as the MX6/Probe were concerned).

$3,400 for a complete kit according to him. Bolt on. Runs of same belt as the alternator. Why the hell can't we ever get reliable information?

Yeah, just to reiterate, that is a supercharger.

People seem to forget that superchargers are belt driven compressors, beit screw type or rotary type. Turbo's run on exhaust gases, and seeing as the alternator doesn't put off exhaust, that'd be sort of hard to run a turbo off of.

I was also going to say snakeoil. Dudes, in the end if you're realizing you're going to spend $3000+ on turbocharging or supercharging, just replace the whole car.

Re-post

Not that I am a proponent of this "snake oil" set up, personally I think it is ghetto, but 3K to properly add forced induction to a car is not a bad investment in my opinion. If your car is not worth investing that I agree you should get another one.
