Default Project Mad951MAX

Too bad that won't all fit on a license plate...

This is the new toy! Just rolled into my driveway this morning from fellow Rennlister. 4500 bucks. It will probably sit for a bit because winter is well on its way here in the great white north, but come spring she's going to evolve into a dedicated track car. Somewhere down the road I'll pick up another one for a daily driver. But this one will get painted again and have my big ugly logos all over it, full new suspension, little engine work, and off to the track we'll go!

Link for PICS

One pic here for those having an aversion to clicking links...

You need phone dials? The right front one has a chunk out of it and is warped, the other three look okay. I'll be looking for a different set of wheels/tires for it, when I get them I'll give you a yell.

I'm curious if anyone knows this car. It came to me from PA, but came to PA from TN a few years ago. I have no documentation on it. The guy I bought it from told me (second hand) the guy he got it from told him, that the guy in TN painted it black and did 'the mods'. The mods allegedly include head work, new head gasket, boost controller. Now get this... The 'boost controller' is a plumbing valve, needle type. I can't tell under the mess if the head has ever been off, but does look like it has new exhaust gaskets on it. The exhaust is a 3" test pipe with some sort of stainless steel 'catback' and muffler. Big round muffler. I'll get a pic of it. Here's another 'mod'. The AFM is connected to a short boot directly in front of the turbo. The BOV is dangling off to the side hanging from its vacuum line. Didn't have time to check out any vacuum line routing before it got dark. The fuel lines have been cut at the fender well and new lines 'hose clamped' on, basically a fire waiting to happen. Some sort of fuel pump that sounds like a recip type engages next to the gas tank when you turn the key on, you can hear it outside the car and inside, and when you turn the car off, the FPR hisses. The intake has been 'brush' painted silver, and the cam cover and dist housing 'brush' painted red. Oh, the car was originally red, was painted Jet Black by the guy in TN. Any of you TN people know this car? Tell me anything about it?

Regards,
Russell

Angry Update...

I suppose I'm just too trusting. When the ebay auction says:

The front right corner of the car was involved in a spin out at a local road race track by myself. I took a corner to fast and ended up hitting the tire wall. Again it was a low speed hit. I took it to the body shop to check to see if the frame was straight and it was. I fixed all pieces and sprayed them in black primer. Again, ready for a fresh coat of paint. Side markers are not shown in the pictures but will be installed before the car is shipped. Also the front driver's side turn signal is not currently installed but will be. The only thing that will need to be purchased is the front passenger's side turn signal that was damaged.

I expected to purchase a right turn signal lense and get a body shop lined up for paint. But what did I get? I looked around today on the car, right front frame is visibly bent, you can easily see it. Fender doesn't line up, front bumper cover is all cracked up and split in many places. So it's safe to say the Rennlister (non-member) is a liar at best, and a crook at worst. I hope you get all the luck you have coming to you there pal.

So I'll get the car to a frame shop before I do anything else, if it can be fixed, I'll fix it, if it cannot, I'll be parting it out. Or, said lister could all the sudden become a stand-up guy and give me back my 4500.00 and come get this piece of junk out of my driveway, or give me back 1500.00 toward fixing it. Maybe I'll buy a lottery ticket tonight.

I'll learn one of these days...

Russell,

That sucks. Sorry to hear that. But in hindsight what you really needed was a 2.8L Stroker 951........
