Aluminum Wheels: Do you have to strip them to get the polished look?

Exclamation Aluminum Wheels: Do you have to strip them to get the polished look?
I am about to spray my PD's with the black center and silver lip. My question is:
Do I have to use aircraft stripper in order to polish them? or can i just go ahead and sand and polish?
