Spare me the agony... camshaft removal...
Swapping towers, have the whole thing ready to go and I can't get the cam out of my old tower! I am too tired to force it and screw something up. I get about 4 inches out of the read of the cam housing and that's it. I am figuring that it's just not lining up -- am I right or is there something that I am missing?
Thanks - will check in the morning to carry on.

Take a picture, I am confused.
So you have the cam gear off that runs the timing correct?
So that also means you have the aluminum housing between the front of the cam box and the cam gear as well correct? I might have to look at the cam box on my living room floor here in gainesville, LOL.

you do know that you have to rotate as you slide the cam out? Each lobe will catch on the internal baffling... pull til it hits, then twist as you pull until the next lobe slides through. Repeat until it's out.

I wish it was that simple. The cam tower is off the car and the only two pieces are the tower and cam itself. The rear cover, gasket, lifting hook, cam bearing, camshaft triple-square strip-o-matic bolt, collar, seal, mylar f'ng washer, pulley, o-ring, plug, distributor, rotor, front cover, inspection plug, and last but not least, 6 cam caps are all off. I can account for all 12 bolts... just kidding... all 15. I've stood the thing up, rolled it over, cussed at it, pleaded with it, when no one was looking, I told it I loved it and it still wouldn't budge.

Yes, but perhaps in my weary state I didn't perform this function methodically enough and became too irratated. Will try again in the morning. Thanks for the voice of reason here.

Either I am nuts or have an affliction, or both, like the rest of the majority of us here...
I hauled *** out in the garage in my skivvies and pulled that camshaft out. Thanks for the advice and humor... time to hit the shower.
