Default Looks like a 944 is going to be my DD again

This time it will be an 89 NA instead of an 89 S2. Funny thing is the NA has 77k on it, which is almost exactly what the red S2 had on it thirty eight months ago when it was stolen.

My friend called to say his son is hell bent on buying my GTO. I told him he could have it for the buyout in december 07 or anytime before that just add $100 a month to the buyout for each month before the car is supposed to be turned in. He plans on getting the funds together by the holidays. A GTO with just under 13k miles for 20K is a pretty good deal for a great car. Since i know my friend for almost 30 years I told him i would give his son the Blizzak LM-22s on Mille Miglia M3 replicas that look better than the stock rims. those are worth a cool $600 on ebay.

I just dont need a new car to drive three miles to the train each day. the 944 will be a perfect station car for me.

A few of the board members can report on the good, bad & ugly of the car after they see it at the autocross this weekend.

Here are the details of the car for those interested:
89 NA Linnen gray exterior, blue interior
Bought by mo brother Sept 04 from second owner with 40K all original paint, dash crack, cracking on some clear coat

In last 5k miles new brakes/rotors, cap/rotor etc, motor mounts/belts rollers, clutch and some other stuff.

Black dash cap that is lifting in some areas over the gages. Phone dials that are getting snows or sold, putting 968 rims with pilot sports from S2 on the NA.

a few small scrapes/dings - 90% can be buffed out, small dent on rocker by jack mount,

I think it has factory ABS, has split rear seat with cover, no lsd, power driver and pass seats, ten speaker system but no eq like in the S2.

Momo steering wheel with fake momoe shift **** from autozone (came with an expensive momo fighter **** i have to get rid of)

blah blah blah. i spent a few weeks looking for another 944 for my brother after he had sellers remorse and sold his 84 to Skoot1027 from the board. I was on autotrader on a saturday night then went somewhere else and then back to autotrader and wondered why i didnt see this car. called and he told me he hit the send button five minutes earlier.

we drove the hour and half to the sellers house in NJ the next day and did the deal. the seller works downtown near my office and near my brothers office. we took the ferry with him home monday night and picke up the car. That smooth. The seller was a real gentleman (much different that the bozo i bought my S2 from).

That should be fun - the 89 had the 2.7L right?

Correct me if I am wrong - but didn't the late cars gain some weight - my brother's 84 feels "peppier" than my 87.

yeah it is a fat car, abs, more electrics, climate control, etc. they put the 2.7 which requires premiumgas to offset the gain. i shouldnt compare it to the other NA, and have as a baseline now a 350hp GTO, 951 pushing around 300hp, and the easy revving 208hp S2. so sure it feels sluggish. even my wifes rendezvous which i think feels like a rock compared to my buddies SRX with the same motor has 250+hp.

Dan is sharing the NA with me. we were debating whether to run the dry rotted pirelli 400s or his R compounds. decided to run the pirellis. stop by and run your car!

hopefully they wil just take the last course and run it in reverse.

That's cheating!! Those are already broken in and heat cycled from me spinning in other autoxs. Well at least the flat spots are heat cycled.

So not only will i probably get beat again by Dan in my own car, I may get beat by you in my own-ed tires.
