That little boost feeling IS the vario-cam; my 968 is factory stock and I felt that right away when I got it (like a low boost turbo). IIRC, the chips don't modify the vario-cam directly, it may act differently due to changes in timing and fuel but thats it.

OK yeah that's what I thought too.
Glad to hear it from someone else though... I would have been sad if my car already had a chip and I was already used to it.
