Default MOMO steering wheel adapter fitment

Quick question for those that replaced their steering wheels. I was trying to fit a MOMO adapter part#7004 to my 87 944 S which according to the fitment guide is what I need. However, when I try to install the adapter it doesn't seem to fit in as easily as the OEM wheel. Does it need to be lubed or tapped in? any info appreciated. thx.

is it the late style adapter w/ the large lower portion? If it is correct then you should have no problem sliding it on. Make sure the part that says TOP is pointing up when the wheels are straight.

it does have the larger lower portion, and I did install it TOP side pointing up and wheels straight. It just seems real tight though. I'll try a bit fo grease.
