The cars almost done. I'm going over to see it again today. The front Konis I ordered were wrong so they've had to go back and I think while Michael was working on my car he got inspired to upgrade his race car so I'm going to inherit his old front end. Exciting.

I havent had an serious time with the chip yet though. I'm looking forward to it.

Secondly, what seems to be the average idle for the cars with the chip? Thirdly, from what I gather from the thread is that with the multiboard I could have the stock mapping for a 944 along with the 944Max mappings, is that correct?
Hello chilix,

The decision on whether to get the regular chip or the R chip is purely your preference. Running 93 over 91 with the regular chip will make no difference, and in reality the R chip would be safe on 91, I strongly recommend 93 as that is what it is designed for. As for how much more power you get all I have is user input, I have no dyno numbers comparing the R chip to the regular one. Your idle shouldn't change at all if you've made no other modifications to the car. If it does change, it would be less than 100rpm diference. And that is correct, with the multi-board you can have stock and 944MAX mappings, as well as no-start and valet images if you want, or even the above combination and the R mapping. Additionally you can have the multi-board with switch mounted directly on the board or remote (on cable). Some people want to switch often, others very rarely. An example would be someone who wanted the ability to switch to stock maps for emissions testing, open the computer and flip the switch. There is another switch I use to mount directly to the board with the switch actuators mounted on the side rather than the top, so you could open the DME cover and change settings without actually pulling the boards apart. Some people attach the DME cover with only a couple of the tabs, making it easy to pop it apart without even disconnecting it from the frame.

Regards,
Russell

Hi Russel, made my order thanksgiving day, any idea when you'll be shipping off the next batch?

Also how is your rev limiter set up? If I was to have it on valet mode and some clown keeps bouncing off it at 3k rpm, there wouldn't be a problem would there? Is the 93 octane as lean as the 91? I've noticed sometimes the tempature will shoot up with the 91 chip.

Many thanks to 924martinirossi for all his work on my '86, the car is transformed.

Koni adjustables front and back. set firm. stiffer springs. camber plates. rotors.

And to cap it all off the new chip which feels great. Much more peppy. More consistant omph starting lower. Its been a lot of fun. it almost encourages more spirited driving. I'm very happy with it.

Does anyone else using this chip have a problem with overheating? Riding around in cool winter weather with the temp over the second bar and up at the top white bar at stoplights!?

It gets kind of scary, and was one of the main reasons I bought the "chip selector" but I'm starting to think I'll have to open a paypal dispute or something with that...

You got yours delivered okay then?

I havent noticed any change in the temps however my red car has always run hot. (its not technically overheating, unless it goes into the top 1/4 right?).

I'll certainly pay attention though. I've only been using the car about 4 days since it was installed.

I bought one when they first came out, came in a couple of weeks. The selecting multi board thing however hasn't came in over a month

My car runs hotter with the chip.

I run a 190 thermostat which is the upper white line. With the chip installed, it runs just a tick over the white line. I'm not worried about it though.

mine ran hotter too, but then I took it out and a couple months later the headgasket gave it up while the car was parked, so there was my problem.

it's a piece of hardware that acts as several different chips that you can choose from. With a multiboard you could pick from the stock chip or a chip for 91 octane or a chip for 93 octane or a chip for race gas just by changing a switch as opposed to having to physically uninstall and install chips.

nice so all I have to do is get the multi bored and I can have it for street use and then when I want to have a little fun I can press this magical button.
