Where does one get that M8 1.0 pitch 12mm or so hex bolt with the hole in it. Or do you wizards make your own. I managed to snap mine. TIA

Got mine from the dealer. I don't remember it costing that much. Maybe like $3. It just took the normal week to come in. In the meantime I went to a hardware store and got one without the hole and used that.

Perfect timing! I've been trying to figure out what size that bolt is, I'm going to try putting a Speed Bleeder of the correct size in there instead. I'm hoping I'll be able hook some clear tubing up to the nipple, crack it open and then use the pressure bleeder w/o having coolant spew all over the front end of the motor.

I'll keep you posted on how it goes...thanks again for the sizing info

Thanks dudes. Speedbleeder. I have caused Exxon Valdesesque spills fiddling with that bleed bolt. Apparently some folks drill out the hole. The size again is 8mm 1.0 pitch 12mm long.

Does anyone know the purpose of the little hole drilled through the bleeder screw? It actually saved my butt. When I torqued the head off, there was a hole in the remaining piece of screw that I was able to twist out with a flathead. Is there some thermo dynamic principle behind the hole?

There is a hole down the length of the bolt and a hole (or two) drilled radially just under the head that intersect the one down the bolt length. The idea is to allow air to escape without having to unscrew the bolt very far.

I ordered an M8x1.0 Speedbleeder plus a hose & bag kit tonight, so we'll see how it goes. The site doesn't indictae how long the threaded part of the bleeder is, hopefully it'll work ok.

Not to rain on your parade, but I hope you have better luck with Speedbleeders than I had. I bought some from Paragon a long time back for my brakes and two of them leaked right away after install. Paragon (great customer service as always) sent me two replacements right away with no charge. But by 6 months later, 3 more were leaking. I yanked out all of them and went back to standard bleeder nipples. They weren't expensive so I just chalked it up to a bad decision on my part and went on. Others here have had similar experiences with leakage on SB's. Good luck!
