Default no gages work on the 85.5. Ideas?

I started the 85.5 today and it runs great. problem though is that none of the gages work that I can see.
The battery gage jumps up to a value that is reasonable. ~14V
Oil pressure maxes out ?
nothing else works.
fuel shows empty, no tach, no speed, no Caution light, no fuel light, no mpg gauge. is something unplugged?

FYI, it did not work before I got the car. They said it would cut out some times.
grounds?

Oil pressure max...... Did you switch the wires on the sender?

Maybe the ground by the bellhousing? Did you forget it? .... hmmm....

I never took a ground off near the bellhousing. I did remove the wires on the oil pressure sender. I did the oil cooler seals. I can always swap the wires and see if that fixes the oil pressure problem.

Had a similar issue once. The fuse (don't recall the number) had corrosion in the socket. Cleaned, re-installed with dielectric grease and no issues. Maybe similar issue?

I will check that too. I replaced coolant hoses, did the oil cooler seals, replaced the entire front end of the car (engine and susp. were left alone) the only wiring I got into was the lights. I also changed out the battery.

could also be the plug on the back of the gauge cluster if they had it out for some reason- when i had mine out i had to get in there two more times to fix the plugs that seemed plugged in but really werent.

I will check that too. I have a recipt from a local shop that removed the cluster looking to fix the problem. (200 bucks plus!) anyone want to pay me 200 bucks to remove a gauge cluster?

Judd,

There is also a relay that deals with the gauges (I also don't remember which one it is)(at least there is on 951s). It is the same one as a different relay, so you can just swap them quickly to see if that is it. I had this happen on my car, but all the gauges would die rather then 3 of the 4. Still, it might be that, good luck!

good idea on swapping the relays out. I can use my working 86 as a donor car to troubleshoot.

I checked the fuses, they seem fine. I will swap out the relay then remove the inst. cluster tomorrow.

alright, new developments. I put gas in the car on the way to work today. the gas gauge works it was just really empty! also the temp gauge works fine. the temp stayed between the two white lines. battery works but the oil still jumps up to over 5 bar. I have not tried to swap the wires yet.
Maybe I did not do a good job of aligning the oil pressure relief valve and it is really maxing out pressure? is that possible?

My tach, Speedometer, and ODO does not work. the sensor on the transmission is plugged in and that is where all that info is coming from. Ideas?
