Default How important is upgrading the bushings on a 944 track car?

How much improvement in handling will bushings make on my 944 if I currently have this setup.
350lb front springs with adjustable Koni's
30mm hollow torsion with adjustable koni's
26.8mm front swaybar
18mm rear swaybar
-3 degrees front camber
-2 degrees rear camber
15x7 phone dials with 225/50/15 Toyo RA1

the more solid you go with bushing the more positive feel you will have... but you loose the nice ride .

rear bushings are often best done when you do the t-bars. The rubber is stiff there so it is not that bad. What you give up is some added toe change when braking. The 944 rear suspension flexes torward toe-out underbrakes and the less rubber the less this effect. To combat you dail in static toe-in. With all metal for example you can pull out much of the that toe-in. Of course toe-in cauese minor scrubbing when going straight thus wearing tires and slowing the car.

In the front the rubber bushings again allow suspension movement. Thus your aligment settings change under cornering and braking loads. Plus you have a bit of slop before things get load up so slightly slower response. If you are running steel front arms then you realy shoudl upgrade to delrin cross member bushings. The stock ones allow the arm to slid back and rub on the cross member too much.

In the end bushings are nice to do when you have things apart, but unless you are racing they won't make much difference.

You know that with the car like that you are pretty close to a spec car. Nor-Cal has just had their first two race weekends with 5 cars at each of the 4 races.

How is your ride? I am installing the Konis with my stock swaybars and torsion bar. I am using 250# springs...is your ride on the street too harsh?

I just put in some solid caster blocks and it really sharpened up the the feel of the steering on turn-in. My setup is almost the same as your's except that I have weltmeister sways.

The ride is surprisingly very good for the streets. I actually feel it should be stiffer but right now it is a good all around street/track car. Something that I can drive a couple of hours to and from the track without feeling all beat up. Handles pretty good but I know it can be better.

I was at Infineon on Sunday to watch my friends race the Spec944 class. I ran my car with HPDE4. Had a good time. My original plans were to convert my car to 944 Specs so that way I can race with my friends but the more I think about it, I think I just want to have a competitive car that I can take to the track and have fun with. Of course when my friends with their 944's go out, I want to see if I can keep up with them.

How long does the delrin bushing stop the steel control arm from moving toward the cross frame? one season or many seasons? and who sells them? How long do they last in general?

I don't speak from experience of upgrading the bushings. My only experience is replacing destroyed bushings. That made such a big improvement, I knew that upgrades would be fantastic.

They last a LONG TIME. I have had mine in since mid 2003 or so. They keep on trucking and have NEVER given me a problem. I have no intention of replacing them. They were the first set made as far as I know.

I got them from Paragon Products, but they were made by racer's edge.

Do you still use the rubber castor bushing or do you have to use a different one there too? Will the urethane bushings work for the torsion tube mounting places: (the mount at the jack point and the mount at the radial arm above the axle shaft)

I use the red weltmeister's at the caster block. They are from the same time frame 2003.

For the t-bar I us black ployurethane bushings. I put these in in 2001 or 2002. They squeak like hell, but are fine otherwise.
