One of my new classmates here in UC Riverside came from Davis, and he used to work in a ricer tuning shop. He told me he was really good at what he did and was really into the business, but he also told me his shop never touched anything from Europe. I'll ask him if he knew of any other good shops with dynos that would work on a 4-banger p-car.

Just an FYI for anyone browsing through that list - the DNR Performance website (the shop is in Hayward) loads a trojan onto your computer when you load the site. Luckily my virus protection software caught it...
Oh snap! One of the places on that list is right next door to the shop I take the car to. Of course the phone number listed has the old area code, which they changed probably 8 years ago...
Scratch that. Edge Motorworks in Dublin has a dyno - they're primarily a BMW shop, but they technically do stuff for any SCCA guys. I'm pretty sure they've done work on my friend's dad's lotus and whatnot. http://www.edgemotorworks.com/ My friend takes his e36 m3 there for all its work and loves the place, so they should be good. Relatively close for the valley people (at least in terms of bay area locations). My friend is saying they used to advertise weekly dyno days, but they've stopped advertising them recently.

Well I've got an appointment to get it tuned for monday evening (going up after work) at Shatz and Krum. They specialize in German cars, and the guy is familiar with my Piggy-back's manufacturer, and they have a loading dyno (Mustang Dyno) I'll now have to expect the numbers to be low (as mustang dynos are typically lower).

Ok, the car is on the dyno right now, and Stewart Krum gave me a call during lunch to give me an update. He is about 3/4 the way done tuning the fuel map and was seeing about 220hp. I'm interested in seeing the end result here

How did he get around the full throttle issue with the binding linkage? Is he revving by hand from the engine compartment? 220 hp is awesome and he's still mapping.

Ok, I got the car back last night and the driveability is SO much improved. It has the same driveability as it did before. Unfortunately the car was pretty heat-soaked at the end of his tuning session so he didn't make a "glory run" printout pull, but said I could bring it back anytime and he'd do that. Confirmed numbers were 220 rwhp on the Mustang dyno (natoriously low). He suggested raising the rev limiter to 7000rpm as it just kept pulling in the uppper revs.
As for the dyno "calibration" he said he consistantly dynos 240hp M3s at 165whp on the mustang dyno . 165/240=220/x --> 220/(165/240) = x = 320hp
