Thumbs down So much for aftermarket parts

I tried to finish up the head repair/HG work on the BMW today and pulled out the new thermostat housing I bought from a well known supplier. Here's the brand new part which sells for $20 less than the BMW version. See anything that would concern you? Funny thing, this is the exact nipple that broke off, spewed coolant, and toasted the HG in the first place. You get what you pay for I guess. I don't blame the vendor, I blame the QC at the manufacturer for poor inspection, and for putting them in a opaque sealed bag so the distributor can't cull out the rejects. This sets me back another 2 days

Sorry to see that! I assume the vendor will replace it for you... Or are you going to order the OEM part now?

I agree. It's way beyond using Duct Tape, the other miracle fix.

But duct tape and a zip tie or two might work. I drove around with a coolant hose fixed in that way for a few weeks prior to taking my 951 off the road. Worked pretty damn well Why drain the coolant to replace the hose only to do it again in a few weeks

The vendor is sending out a new one over night and I'll return the bad one prepaid in the same box. Again I don't blame the vendor, it's just one of those castings that somehow slipped by. Injectors come back from Witchhunter Tuesday so I should be good to go and be able to move onto working on the new 86 turbo
