Default It's ALIVE! ALIVE I tell ya! ALIVE!

After just about 7 months to complete the clutch project I finally took the last steps this afternoon. Finally got my tools together and gutted out the cat before reinstalling it. Got the exhaust all in place and droppend in the new battery. While it was still on the stands I got in and tuned the key... all systems wakes up, fuel starts pumping... this is good. (I think to myself, god, I hope I go the reference sensors done right! Oh please!) Turn the key, crank, crank, crank, crank,... VRROOOOOOM! Ah YES! As a cloud of smoke clears out the exhaust, the idles is a little rough at first but doesn't take long to smooth out. On the stands I decide to run through the gears a little... all the shifts feel good. Time to put put the wheels on, set her down and go for a ride.

Got it out on the road through town and she shifted beauftifully up and down through every gear. No more slop in the driveline when I get on or off the gas. Acceleration is smooth thanks to a rebuilt throttle body.

Other than a little rattle that I think is a loose piece or two of catalytic material, everything seems to be good to go. I'll get a few more drives around town in and put it back up to check the torque on everything and get it the once over.

Despite the PITA and taking much longer than I planned I feel now like I've gone through the hazing to join an inner circle of 944 owners that have been crazy enough to undertake the task of doing a clutch job on these cars. All-in-all, I would probably do it again.

Now I gotta go clean all the cob webs out of the interior!

You should start a clutch business in your free time.

How do you get the fuel pump to run with just the key on?

Hmm... nothing I did. but when the key is on you can hear something running from the rear of the car. I'm assuming its the fuel pump to build up the pressure in the line before cranking it over.
