Default Cooling fans

I have a '87 924s, the problem is sometimes the drivers side fan doesn't work and the temp goes up.

When I put the a/c on both fans work, although sometimes the drivers side will stop or not turn on and if I hit the drivers side fan it will begin to run.

Sometimes with ac off and I let the engine temp rise and the pass side fan will come on and drivers side doesn't, than other times the drivers side comes on when engines comes to temp and the pass side will come on later.

Also, the fans use to run when the car was turned off ,now they don't.

I had problem with 951 that Fan would not turn off, ever, both of them. It turned out the fan temp switch was bad. In diagnosing I did find there are two separate relays, one for each fan. I swapped the ones out of my 944 to test if that was the problem, you can check those. when you turn the AC on I would think that is a different "switch" then the temp switch that's why it turns on consistently. The fact that you hit the fan and it turns on leads me to believe you have a fan motor issue or a loose connection.
