Default Thoughts on Griffiths R134a A/C kits?

Has anyone DIY the Griffiths R12 to R134a kit for the 944? What is your take on it? Is the installation and instructions straightforward? How does the R134a a/c compare to the existing R12? Do you think it is worth the $600?

I did this last summer and also put the condensor they sell in as well and it work perfectly! I used their Khuel compressor kit and have not looked back! It was worth the money to me!

How long did you take for the removal of the old unit and installation of the kit? Did you have to use a different length belt?

looking for more info on this subject. after replacing the compressor a few years ago, and possibly going bad again AND a leak or clog of some sort in the system, im looking at the griffiths kit including compressor/mounting hardware/dryer/hoses etc.
same question as above that didnt get answered.

is it worth it?
is installaton easy and straight foreward?
would a new condensor be neccesary?

thanks

it would probably be a good idea to replace the condenser as yours is full of birds and things.

i put one of these on my car and was very happy; the design is more efficient than the tube/fin design of the oem unit. the factory lower hose attaches directly to it as well.

http://www.nostalgicairparts.com/air...ndenser-28.php

they are also well made, i got into a gnarly crash which destroyed the front of my car. the condenser got bent like a potatochip just a little bit but still doesnt leak

Bumping this again. Anyone else have any thoughts on this kit? Seems a little overpriced to me.

It seems TonyG had a bad experience with the generic conversion kit.

The Griffiths brackets look twice as thick, fittings look different, and it comes with a proper high pressure hose. I personally don't think that's worth an extra $200 though, but maybe it is.

the brackets in the paragon kit are 3/8" thick.
fittings are easy to find other options if you need to
