Default Finally getting the clutch/progress thread

I got the parts today for the clutch job. Im going to post pics in this thread of the clutch replacement progress so stay tuned.

I don't know what the difference (visually) is between the regular and cup disk so heres a few pics. Anyone have a pic of the regular one?

The clutch is a straight forward job, gl with it.
Are you installing a new flywheel while ur at it? i have a feeling ur flywheel face is not going to be in good shape. If u do install a new fw then make sure you adjust the flywheel pin to the right height or youll have lots of problems.

Looks like some nice stuff Antonio. Are you still going to have Terry work on it?

stock clutch disk has six smaller springs in the middle that further dampen it- yours is stiffer- this is the same thing im getting for mine this winter. Very nice!

Some people say the flywheel should be ok and some say it wont. Im going to have the tec inspect it and if it needs replaced, ill order one.

Ben, a guy i know is doing the job. Its all going to end up costing about 1400 labor and parts. I couldn't pass that up comparing to the other quotes i got.

Thanks to the advice to everyone.

Im going to have him remove the flywheel and take it to a machine shop in town to get it resurfaced. I almost bought a new one but the guy at Zims told me it would be almost the same just to resurface it. He said some people do that 2-3 times.
Anyway if its in really bad shape for some reason and cant be resurfaced ill get one. Hopefully its in decent shape.
Stay tuned for pictures of the process

Very smart to get the flywheel resurfaced. That is the sign of a good clutch job if you ask me. I did it when I did my clutch and it engages nice and smooth now.

make sure whoever does it knows what they are doing and takes the same amount out of the surface as the sides where the pp mounts to...most know to do this but ive seen a couple that neglected to do so and that would be bad...

wait nvrmind- not a vw.

Probably accounts for the labor price being low
