Default gear whine on deceleration

I just had my clutch replaced (cracked clutch fork) and they replaced the gear oil. Now on deceleration I get a loud whine from the back, mostly in 2nd and 3rd gear.

I know some gear noise is normal, but this is much louder then it was before. Should I be overly concerned with this? They put in Mobil one 75W90 and I had redline MT-90 in there. Would the change in oil make that much of a difference?

i've read that the type / weight used can make them quieter or noiser. mine too makes a "grrrr..grrr...grrr" on de-acceleration in second and third and will be switching to the Swepco 201 based on my research via RL. Try a "tranny noise" search with the caveat of it being real hunt and peck.

Earlier this year, I replaced my tranny mount with a Kokeln solid mount. No gear oil in the world will ever be able to eliminate the "sounds of a cement mixer" my car now makes. I swear I can hear the clicking of every gear cog meshing with the next cog...

Your transmission was making that noise all along, you just didn't hear it cause of the rubber mounts. There is a reason why all the drivetrain is isolated by rubber mounts.

Yes, I know. Not that I have the solid mount, the sound goes right thorugh the chasis, and the rear hatch area acts as a terrific sound resonator.

But it sounds more like a racecar now!
