Clutch/T-belt "while I'm in there" Q's
You may have noticed I picked up an 88 944 na, and she needs a clutch and T belt. The clutch kit is ordered, as is the T belt and some other stuff. I'll do a new rear seal while the clutch is out. What else should I change while I'm in there? T-belt tensioners, rollers, etc. ??
Also, it is kind of sluggish. How easy is it to convert this thing and get some BOOST in there? (j/k)
TIA

Have you posted the mileage on this car somewhere? I don't recall seeing it. My point being - the timing belt rollers are a good thing to replace if high mileage (say 100,000 +). While you are in there, the waterpump is always a good thing as well.
As for the clutch, there are plenty of little parts that can cause problems. There are two needle bearings on the release lever pivot.. Maybe not a problem on your car - they were wasted on mine (though mine had 164,000 miles on it when I picked it up). These are not fun to replace. The pilot bearing in the rear end of the crank is a good item to replace (again, if you are at high miles).
Since you are not likely to be in a big hurry to get the work done, you should be able to thoroughly inspect everything as you go and then order additional parts as needed. Such is the luxury of having alternate transportation.
Having said that, I would take a good look at all of the clutch hydraulics. New slave and master cylinders are very good insurance.
Good luck - looks like a nice project car.

order all the little stuff like pedal pads, tune up parts etc. if draining the coolant is it worth changing the fan switch that costs all of $15? order an extra dme relay, if changing the hydraulic fluids do you want to put SS brake lines in?
How sloppy is the shift lever?
most important - the fuel line over the transmission!

Thanks for the info, guys. She's at 89,000, so I'll just go with a good inspection on the hoses and such. The water pump is a good idea too. There sure is a lot of room in the engine compartment compared to her sister!

While you're in there, why not replace all the stuff that could haunt you, causing you to dive in there again. If you're planning on keeping the car...
I did that to my 968 and I now have so much money invested in it I can't sell it w/o losing money. So I'll just keep this fine car and save money for my next one.
