Default 951 struts on S2 ?

Hi guys

To improve my chassis on my S2 , i have the opportunity of monting 951(944 Trubo 250 1990) struts with shock absorber ,spring and cupel

My question is : Does it mount on a S2 ? whitout any problems ?

If it mount what can i put on the rear ? 951's rear shock absorber too?

Thanks a lot

Sorry for my bad english

Standard 951 (Turbo 250) struts are probably the same as S2 struts. The same apply to the rear shocks. The front springs I think are slightly stiffer then standard S2. If the 951 system is in better condition then your S2 is worth using it and it should fit. You will just need to to a front wheel allignement afterwards.

I don't know if it's the same , because S2 have t220 struts

So i think struts of t250 is different, no?

s2 should have a smaller diameter spring on it- w/ 160lb springs up front. Stock turbo should be the same spring rate w/ larger diameter springs. If you dont plan on running uber wide tires up front you should be ok.

-yes they will all bolt up though...

TurboS 250bhp has smaller diameter springs then Turbo 220bhp. S2 also has smaller then Turbo 220bhp. This means that S2 has got the same diameter as TurboS 250 bhp, just the rates are different.

Hope you are planning on doing something at the back end of the car as well - otherwise, stiffening up the front of the car alone will result in more understeer on a car that already understeers quite a bit...

Koni Yellow sports would work fine. Also: getting a thicker rear sway bar would help too.

Of course, you really need a heavier spring rate if you go with anything more than 200-ish lb springs up front. You could get helper springs in the rear, or swap out the stock torsion bar with a heavier bar. (In my case, I went with 400lb front springs, with a 31mm hollow rear torsion bar).

What do you think about stock spring with stock shock absorber at the front and yellow koni sport at the back ?
Is it better that koni sport at the front and at the back ?

In the first case , it's better than a stock s2 , right ?

Thanks

stefon, my car originally came with the Koni Yellows all around (Option code 474). Works well with the stock springs.

Yes , but to putting koni sport , we need to modify struts
Koni sports don't go on S2's stock struts

I think Koni used to make the full strut assembly for S2 which was different then standard Koni for T220 but the same as T250 for the reasons we allready discussed. Koni will now prescribe inserts with modifications. The good thing is that the modification can be applied to standard S2 struts, thus converting them effectivelly to Koni yellows. This will be a good option if you planning to keep suspension fairly standard. If not you will be better of going for adjustable suspension.
