IIRC, it was a long time ago but the one with the antenna in the glass was around $1000 installed and without the antenna was around $500 installed. This was from the higher end shops in the area.

If I was to do it again, I would have got the less expensive windshield and bought a 968 radio antenna to mount on the roof.

There was a thread about this a couple of days ago.

Count on $500 installed for an antenna windshield and roughly $200 for a non-antenna.

I just replaced the glass in the Turbo for $165 the antenna version was like $30 more. If you need an antenna www.crutchfield.com has a fabulous powered one for $25 even has a little red LED so you know its on.

When I tried to have the glass replaced 6 months ago, I could not find antenna glass for cheaper than 450 or so installed. I tried to have non-antenna glass installed but evidently it is not made to fit the late cars. Folks here have said over and over that it is, but no one has ever been able to provide me a model number from any company to cross-reference. The early glass just does not fit.

So sorry to say, looks like $500.

Jon, thanks a ton. I think it was Safelite that told me that the glass did not fit. They shattered my existing one getting it out before realizing they brought me an early windshield that was too narrow. It was PPG glass, I swear that same number.

Anyway, thanks for the PN. You've got a PM...

The local place that did mine did the same exact thing. I had the car at my fathers shop, my father ordered it through his dealer account to save on the sales tax. The guy came, took out my old windshield (Cracked it severeley in the process) and tried to fit the new one. The new windshield was for an early model and left a little more than a one inch gap on each side. He was going to just stretch the gasket out!! I told the guy thats not going to happen, it wasnt even close of a fit!

He brought the proper one the next day.

The thing that annoys me the most is i specfically said to make sure they ordered the right one when i first contacted them. I told them probably twice there was a early non antenna and a late non-antenna. They still got it wrong!

I paid exactly this at Safelite as well -- also in California.

Whoa! You guys are getting screwed. Maybe I should resale these windshields to the West Coast.

I think the costs we quoted were with installation (at least mine was). Still, I think it cost us a little more than what you mentioned.

I went with a non-antenna windshield ($260 installed) and created my own antenna by squeezing a very thin wire under the windshield rubber (on the glass side) and connected it to the wire in the lower right hand corner. It has the same length as the build-in antenna, but obviously does not go down the middle.
It works reasonably well, but since I very rarely use the radio there is not much to compare it to.
