Default HOOD ALIGNMENT

I have been checking alot of pics on here and it seems that my hood doesn't align properly. I have also noticed other cars that have the same problem. The gaps on mine line up exactly but the front corners of the hood do not lay down as low as the fender tops. This bothers me and I have tried many adjustments without success. Any thoughts or suggestions????

I have the same problem with my hood. Most likely it occurred after a front end accident.

it is not your hood but it is your fenders. the headlight bucket area gets pushed down and then the fender will sit lower as does the headlight mounting points.

What?....
So that means mine has had front end damage too?
My hood also does not line up at the front corners. To me it looked more like the latch was too high. There is plenty of space under the hood along the whole length of the fenders.
Is it possible to lower the latch without using a big hammer?

you can adjust the latch with a 17mm wrench and a large flat head screwdriver. you can even move it around by taking out the two 10mm bolts.

Not trying to be funny here, but have you checked to make positively sure that it's not touching something under the hood? Several possible culprits are; PS resovoir, battery terminal(s), brake fluid resovoir, fuse box clamps, etc. This can occur, especially w/thicker aftermarket underhood liners- mine touches the PS resovoir, just barely. I saw the imprint in the liner & made some adjustments, but it still touches just barely- I put some duct tape, upside down, on top of the resovoir & then shut the hood carefully- when I opened the hood, the tape was stuck to it well- then I tested it w/chalk- I've done as much as I can do. Also, when I first bough the car, one of the battery terminals touched- I fixed that quickly- the PO's battery was too tall- I later found that it was one of the recomended sizes. Anyway, just pointing this out b/c sometimes it's a tiny discrepancy & doesn't seem to interfere w/the hood closing at all, but it could make the difference...

thanks, Robbie, but I checked all of that. My hood still has the original material on the underside (not real good shape but still there). there is nothing touching and I tried to adjust hinges, latch and receivers. The center of the hood in front lines up nicely but the two outside edges in front sit up about 1/4 inch. My car was not hit in the front either. I don't think you can see it in this picture.

I'd say it's the hood latch too far back or off to one side slightly... adjust the latch mechanism on the header panel.

Is there a way to adjust the rear part of the hood a little higher near the windshield so I can clear the wipers? The hinges looked like they are tucked away.

Is it at all possible that after being closed 50000000 times in the lifetime of the car and always being pulled down in the center, that the hood has flattened out?....
I looked at mine again today, and it looks as if the hood is actually flatter than the nose panel/headlight assembly.

Perhaps I will start abruptly opening it by the center, and closing it by the corners?.... Think I could reverse it?
