Default Missing Heat Shield on Starter?

On the back of my starter, there are two threaded posts. There was nothing attached to these posts. Is there supposed to be? I didn't see anything in the PET.

Why? There is nothing to protect the starter from on an N/A. The reason there is a heat shield there on the turbo is because the downpipe from the turbo goes right by that point.

When the starter failed in my 951, I wrapped the new one with foil insulation tape. People with Formula Fords wrap their Lucas starters with this stuff. Have not had further problems. Gets pretty hot down there.

I did the same thing the last time my starter was out. It isn't going to hurt anything, even if it doesn't help.
