Default Splicing into wiring harness suggestions (WBO2)

I am just installed my Zeitronx WBO2 sensor data logger (sort of). My soldering skills are terrible to say the least, so I used the vampire clamp style, now the car won't start. I was hessitant to cut the wires all together, but it does not look like I have much of a choice. I am also trying to do this while kneeling off to the side and reaching into the floorboard.

I am thinking I will have to pull the wires through the firewall and solder from there. I have been practicing on the bench with some scrap wire and I am getting better. Any thoughs or sites for reference on how to solder and will I have to cut the wires. I have come up empty with google searches.

One thing to note pin #21 on my DME the RPM input has a really thick wire with an innner and outer wire, both on their own layer for lack of a better description. How do I splice that?

Should have taken shop in H.S. damn
