Default O2 sensor compatability question

Ok, so I'm dumb. I bought a three(3) wire heated O2 sensor for my 84 944 n/a. I realized after buying (I had suspected before I bought the sensor) that the O2 sensor on my car is a single wire. So herein lies the question, can this be made to work? Where or from what would I run the pos and ground wire for the sensor? Thanks for the help guys.

The 3 wire is a heated O2 sensor. The pos can probably be cut off as it is just power for heat. The ground can go to any availble ground. I'd just return it and get a single wire. It just looks a little cleaner.

For me it helped a lot to remove the old sensor with the exhaust a little warm. It wouldn't budge when it was cold. 22mm wrench should do it. An O2 sensor socket would be ideal but a wrench will work just fine. Hitting it with a couple of shots of PB Blaster the day before and a couple hours before might help too.

HOw much was it? IF it was expensive, return it.

I got the Bosch O2 that Autozone said fit, and it was only $18 for my 84. If it was much more than that, return it.

Autozone will loan this tool to you, free of charge.

The two white wires are not power and ground, they are the two ends of the heater element. You could ignore them, or return the heated sensor and get the cheaper single wire one if they will let you. You could also trade for a single wire with a rennlister in your area, I bet.

I just used a wrench to get mine out and it popped out without too much problem. I thought it had broke cause it suddenly broke free and it was loose enough to spin by hand after the initial loosening, but it wasn't bad.

I heard rumor that the heated ones worked better than the not heated, also, I bought it on ebay from a link in the forums and it only cost around $20-30 after shipping. Since I heard it worked a little better for gas mileage I figured I'd go ahead and install this one, but either way makes no difference. It's work without hooking up the other wires? If I hook this up what would I use to get it heated, or should I even bother?
