Default Intake Manifold Question

I took my intake manifold off last weekend to do the venturi delete and I noticed the last bolt on the manifold (closest to firewall) was not an allen head bolt like the other 7 but instead just a regular bolt that was been used as a ground.

Is this normal?

Steve and I just took off his manifold Tuesday night, but he was doing all the wrenching. He mentioned some grounding cable back there, so I'm pretty sure that cable belongs there, but I know that bolt should also be an allen head bolt.

Thanks Arash.....I saw a 944 engine at Parts Heaven today and the there was an allen head bolt there and it was not been used as a ground...but then I dont know if there was a difference between the 944 and 951 (yes yes I kow I should just go look at my 944 but its late now).......The bolt does tighten down so I think its OK but was just wondering if this was normal or not.

BTW - Venturi is out and car is running strong....and my brakes are back......

It's amazing what losing 5' of old tubing will do. The venturi delete is one of the best things you can do the turbo to rid yourself of several nagging problems. Sorry you can make it Sunday, don't win too much at Tahoe!

I don't think that is normal. Originally there is a allen head bolt that holds a clamp for the engine harness snorkel. I would assume that someone couldn't get the ground put back on the bell housing and used the last bolt on the intake manifold instead.

Yeah that Venturi is a mess.......The main tube that runs from the brake booster was cracked everywhere and several other tubes were suspect. I have more vacuum now and no brake issues. Its great. Heading to the dyno this morning before I leave to Tahoe.....

Here is a pic of some of the tubes I pulled out. Also removed the CV while I was in there.

This is that main line from the brake booster......it looks like soeone cut it in half but it was just brittle and cracking

the CV line

The intake manifold bolts should be M8 Allen.

Correct me if i am mistaken, but is that also a ground wire, attached to the harness bracket (where that hex-bolt is right now)?

If so, it wouldn't be like that.

Yah, I just looked on my N/A, they're all allen heads, and that isn't a ground on mine either, though it does hold down a bracket that supports the fuel injector wiring harness.

Andial, what did you replace the larger line that comes off the brake booster with? That is the only vacuum line i have yet to replace. Cant find a part # for it in PET.

I bought the LR venturi delete kit. Since I also removed the CV and those 3 hard tubes that are welded together I had to get a replacement line for the tube that runs from the AOS to the j-boot. I just picked that up at the parts store....its 5/8 heater hose.

Everything before I deleted it. Took out 1, 2 & 3. 1&2 are connected and part of the CV....3 is the venturi.

This is after the delete. The long tube in the middle is from the AOS to the j-boot which I had to get at a parts store. You cant see the long tube from the brake booster to the manifold in this picture but that line came in the kit.

All 8 should be allen heads -- at least on every 951 I've ever seen. That ground strap is supposed to attach to the bell housing. There is a picture on my site (link below).

That is very funny. I do the same exact thing to my cars - except I use pretty green wires.
It facilitates clutch changes.
I am sure Andial did it - its fine like that, trust me.

He said he removed the CV with the venturi delete. I 'was' running 16 psi with the CV but the boost spikes were something else.
