![Question](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
I changed the oil pressure sensor the other week when I changed my oil, in hopes that my oil pressure gage would give me a reading other than stuck past 5. Unfortunately nothing changed.
What is my next move in trying to fix this problem?
Thanks,
J_Kapp

You may wish to hook up a mechanical guage to check and make sure the oil pressure guage isn't giving you an accurate reading and that the problem isn't the oil pressure relief valve. I have had problems where that little devie would stick in the high pressure position. The result would be a blowout of the seal on the oil filter and a big mess (did that to me one Earth Day which I thought was kind of appropriate).

i believe the gauge works by going from some nominal resistance to ground to send the signal to the gauge. Check with an ohmeter to see what resistance you are getting at the sender without the wire attached. if that is something other than short to ground, then check the wire without it connected to the sender. if that goes straight to ground, you have a shorted wire. you should be able to get the dash gauge to peg high by touching that wire to ground.

If the leads are switched, it won't peg at five, it will stay at zero.
I'm chasing down the exact same problem. I changed the gauge and the sender.
