Default Stripping the 944

Well i am stripping the car apart to make it lighter for my personal use not really for track. It is a 1983 944 black on black. So i am selling anything and everything. Right now i have taken the rear wiper motor off, The door windows and the regs. I have stripped all the carpet out and now putting that glup remover on it. If anyone has any recommendation on how to remove the spund stuff let me know. I could not find 3m adhesive remover anywhere. Also i was wondering what type of paint should i use that will be more scratch resistent. Pictures would help as well. Thanks

Head to Home Despot and pick up a can of Xylene... That stuff will remove anything... don't rub too hard or you'll remove the actual paint... I had to in places, especially the rear wheel arches in the back seat, to get the dang glue off.

And latex gloves won't help at all, that stuff is nasty and eats right through em... might need to go get the chemical resistant ones. Make sure to use plenty of ventilating fans or you'll get loopy quick.

It will take a lot of xylene to get all the tar paper up. I am also in the process of stripping the interior and I have been using a heat gun and a scraper to get that stuff up. Ill use the xylene to get the residue off the metal. Another method is to get some dry ice and freeze the stuff and then whack it with a hammer. This way is a bit cleaner thatn the previous.

x3 for the xylene. Just be sure you have adequate ventilation.

I used spray on bed liner on my stripped track car. Very durable and everything is now a uniform color.

For a non-track car, how much lighter do you need it? Taking out the carpet and hearing the transaxle whine is fun, but it gets old when you have passengers or are on a long trip.

I'd just go with removing the spare tire (if you like to take a chance), and the rear wiper. '83s are lighter than any stock NA.

mmmm xylene. . .disolves small children, plus you can poor the leftovers in your gas tank for more octane too.

Well i am using the Xylene and it works great for being a 16 dollar can. I am using a puddy knife to remove the tar. I just started and let some of it sit over night. I am doing the front side first. Any other recommendations? Also what should i do about paint are you guys using the airsaol cans or a paint gun? Thanks
