Default huge oil leak

I know this is kind of off topic but I could really use some help. I have a 2000 jetta and ran over something on the freeway last night. By the time I got home the car had no oil left in it. Any Ideas on what could have happened? I don't know jetta's very well and am not sure where the oil filter is, but I'v heard of oil filters being ripped off from road debris. Do you think I put a hole in my oil pan? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You really need to take a peak under the car. If it's loosing a large amount of oil, it won't be hard to see where it's coming from.

I looked and didn't see anything. I checked the oil and it was empty. Should I put some oil in to look for the leak?

Yes. Don't start the car unless the oil is topped up to the max.
