I was wondering If 924S pistons would be ok in my 86 944n/a?

Should be the same piston, but check for tolerance group on the top so that it matches your current pistons.

I asked XS to check the group before I bought them.

BTW what extactly is the tolerance group?... I know they have to all match... but why?

what year 924S, cuz 1988 has higher compression, just as the 944 did for that same year

but otherwise yes they are the same thing
