yeah who is making the maps?

Well I will try and put together a pictorial map. I think Arash said the ride took him 5 hours......figure 6 for stops and such.......so if we plan to eat a late lunch/early dinner around 3 we need to start the run at 9. But thats just my thoughts.......what time does everyone want to eat??

It took me ~ 5 hours 30 minutes, including some wasted time when I got lost, and my slow scout-style driving. We also stopped 3 times, each time being a decent duration, so considering my time wasted equals our extra chat stops, then I think the run will be no longer than 5.5 hours, like you said.

I'm fine with a late lunch. I typically skip lunch anyway; I might have a fruit or snack or something. I'll just pack a bag of goodies to stave the hunger. Let's all try to be at the meeting place no later than 9am. Here's what it looks like:

I think Felter becomes Sierra Rd before it ends in San Jose.........can anyone confirm this??

See, I don't need turbo, I just need long exposure...

What are we calling this run? 'East Bay run', 'Lick Tracy run'...

hmmmm.....I suppose all runs need a catchy name...........lets see.........

1. East Bay Malay
2. Hamiton to Tracy Run
3. Asada Run
4. Casimir Effect Run

dam it stoo late to think up good names........

Arash the real questions is what is X? X = 4"pi"*10(-7) (T*m) / A.......sorry couldnt figure out how to put in the pi symbol and 10 to the minus seventh degree.....

Yes that's correct.

So the San Jose stop point is actually at the corner or Sierra and Piedmont.

400 pi nano Tesla meters per Ampere??? Do you read physics books to pass the time?

I made a map (I just spent the last 1.5 hours photoshopping some screenshots from google maps). It's a HUGE JPEG to show detail. I shrank it too but all the road names got blurred out. So I think Chris is going to print maps, but take a look at this and get a feel for the route just in case.

I was looking for the name of this equation or what it solves for. Vacuum Permeability was the answer...........for shame

Hi guys - I hope you all have a great time tomorrow. I can't come but want to as it will be a beautiful drive. And the next 2 runs look dicey too - being married all this stuff gets planned so far in advance. Maybe if there's one in November. Have a great time and don't let your spouse/companion lose the rear end just as you pass a park ranger going the other way!

Hi Karen, will do. I'm sorry you can't make it, but there will be a few other runs this year. Hope to see you at one of them!

Hey guys just last night I saw a spider, and it reminded me of something else I saw on the test run I forgot to mention - a tarantula the size of an Air Flow Meter. It was scurrying along the road, and a split second after I noticed it, I heard a slight thump as my right wheels went over it. I sure did see a lot of weird stuff on that test run. Hopefully I scared them all away with the intolerable whine of my 944's timing belt, so they won't bother us tomorrow.

Roger, I know what it was, mu-nought (or mu-sub-0). Now here's a cool trick: can you express the speed of light in terms of vacuum permeability (that number) and permissivity (epsilon-nought)?

Well if we are talking about the speed of light in the vaccum of my 951 we must take into acccount the speed at which my 951 is traveling........assuming a very high velocity (of course) we must understand "the classic aberration of Light".......now my 951 may have moved 10 arc seconds by the time the light has reach point B from point A........now if we can measure the aberration angles and since we know the velocities involved we can probably measure the velocity of the light pretty accurately.

What do you think?

Hey Guys... The SF & upper peninsula crew should meet up at my place before heading out to the east bay meet-up place (as suggested by Arash). PM me for the address and directions if you're unfamiliar with my place. Arash, what time should we meet in order to be at the east bay meeting place on time?
