Default SoCal mechanic recommendation?

Looking for a shop near LAX (Los Angeles, So Cal)

I just brought my 944 down to Manhattan Beach and dropped my rear axle (CV joint bolts came out). Unfortunately, pieces of 3 of the 6 bolts are still in there, so I need a new rear stub axle -- well, at least a guy who's good with a bolt extractor. I have two track days coming up so I want a shop to do it for me.

Anyone have a mechanic recommendation?

There is a shop off Reseda (Tampa Auto Repair, I think). The guy is honest and knows Porsches. He is pretty spendy though.

I can find his contact info if you'd like.

legoland, do you have a lift by any chance? I'm so fed up with this vent line (the one from the side of the AOS to the engine block - half rubber, half metal) that I broke. Was going to tow it to a mechanic, have that part R&R'ed, and tow it back home. Seems like a waste, but I just want my car up and running again and I can't seem to get to that part!

You are welcome Joe. You have helped enough people on the list so its about time someone else can help you.

Swimmingly, I have not encountered anything on a 944 I couldn't take care of with a floor jack. Having a lift put in is easy. Having the city approving it takes a full act of god. When I added a 3/4 bath in my house, they failed the final inspection because I didn't have the same brand breakers as the breaker box (same as having having the same BRAND fuse as your fuse block even though they have exactly the same ratings and type). When I was going to build a 20x40 ft building in the back of the house to put in a lift and park my forklift, I was turned down because the city planners' boss thought the prefab building was not asthetically pleasing enough (my neighbors include the 405 freeway to the north, a self storage facility with a 28 ft solid wall to the east, a driveway to the west, and a neighbor's backyard to the south. Anyone who has been to my house knows its hard to even see the house let alone the backyard.

You hit a sore spot with the lift so sorry for the rant. If you take a picture of your car problem (never heard of the AOS acronym), I am sure there are many people who can guide you through the process.
