If you really want more power (like 300whp) you are looking at a $10K USD bill. Simply buying a 928S4 might be an easier way of meeting your performance goals. A nice 5-speed 928S4 can probably be found for under $15K USD. They are only a couple hundred pounds heavier, a few inches bigger, and often put out around 300whp. It'd be more reliable than a boosted S2 also.

What cars are you comparing it to? S2's are pretty fast if you let them rev. I am not aware of many other cars in the same class that are a lot faster. BMW E36 M3, Porsche 964 or Boxster S?
Those would be noticeably faster.

i love the performance and handling of the '44. its just that im used to having a bit more power. jut curious as to what was available. not to mention i dont keep my cars stock for long. i love a heavily modified veicle ( i know i might get flamed for that) but its my personal preferance. i like my vehicles to be different, and i like the challenge of building it that way.

heres a link to the site of my my 1st vehicle. I started this project by yself when i was 15 years old. took me 2.5 years to build. wasnt what i would call streetable though lol. 2400 lbs and 350 hp it got pretty scary sometimes. especially due to lack of handling and brakes :S

As others have said you may want to work on your driving skills. Since you are a teenager I'm sure you have a lot of room for improvement (sorry to sound so paternal).
The S2 properly driven can keep up with almost any car on a race track.
Last weekend at VIR I routinely passed vettes, M3's, and even a Ferrari and I don't consider myself to be a great driver.
As is the case with most of us, myself included, the slowest part of the package is the driver. Any fool can just mash the gas pedal but it takes a good driver to get the most from his ride.

Question for you, jbrill - what condition is your car in right now, mechanically speaking? You are approaching some very rarely walked upon ground - and unless your car is in absolute tip top shape, I wouldn't start slapping a blower on it!

Stuff that you should do prior to modifying the motor:
1. Rod bearings
2. Replace cam chain guide/tensioner
3. Replace all seals and gaskets (cam seal, crank seal, valve cover gasket, oil pan seal, rear seal, oil cooler seal)
4. Replace all belts and rollers
5. Flush coolant system
6. Test for leakdown / compression
7. Replace rubber centered clutch up with spring centered 951-type unit.
8. Replace or upgrade all worn / tired suspension components, especially the A-arms.

That should get you started....

Gawd, sounds like a real gem you have there. I think this is the worst possible candidate for any type of mods and probably a much better one for concour and other stock events.

If I were you, I'd sell the car to an enthusiast, buy a cheap 951 and tinker with it till you built the more powerful car you're looking for.

I have one of both, and there's nothing I'd do to the S2 to make it a better car. Keep in mind that it was the last 944 model designed by Porsche and when you get to know the car and drive it in different situations, you will realize that it is a truly well rounded member of the 944 series. Whatever you do, have fun!

Hrm. I wish you had a cab, but a coupe would be nice as well. I think I may be interested in a trade (118k, 86 951, alpine white/black, recent head work, mint exterior), depending on whether I can sell my 944 as well.

How much can you get for your 944S2?

ive had people here offer me $20,000+ no joke at all. being ROW its pretty rare! and the color is a nice touch too!

http://www.bbold.com/porsche

Ill only get rid of it if its completely fair, becaus ei know the price on this car will always be the highest compared to other vehicles of the same age due to the low low kms!

Very pretty.

Not sure if I can justify owning 5 cars, and not driving them. If I can sell my 944, I'd be up for a trade of the 951 for your 944S2. Although getting your car to LA might be a little tricky.

PM and I'll email you photos of the 951.
