Default Cheesey???

When I bought the car the PO was very proud of the "944 panel" on the rear. At the time I didn't mind it because I was really digging the car and excited about my first P-car. Well, now this panel is starting to really bug me and I definately don't like the way the plate is mounted on the bumper. What do you think? What will it take to put the original panel back on? I have no idea how this thing is mounted.

Comments or suggestions?

I'm a huge fan of no center pannel... but i would start with putting the stock one back on.

Das Schicksal hat dich angelacht und dir ein Geschenk gemacht

there are many topics covered on this reflector. it is mounted by 4 screws. you should be able to acess it by pulling back the carpet from inside the hatch. hope that helps.
p.s. if you do decide to remove it can i have it? i am thinking about a fiberglass prodject that it may be usefull for.

What is underneath it? Can I just take it off and get some plugs for the bumper to move the plate back up?

These are the single worst "upgrade" that people like to do. One of my previous owners did one, total pain to fill and paint the holes! You will be lucky if the panel has not started to rust where they drilled through it.

i really don't have much to trade for. yes, you can just use bumper plugs to fill the holes. i have seen many 'repaired' this way.

Just ran out to the garage for an exploratory view.......doesn't look good. I guess I will order some bumper plugs. The wife's head will spin if I tell her I need to get some body work/paint done on this. Got to sneak around like a crack addict just to buy a wiper motor anymore!
