Default rebuild=new turbo

1987 944 Turbo - Guards Red, Tan

Hey there. Im a new poster here, and i reside in the great heartland of Wichita, Kansas. I'm in the process of rebuilding my 951. The head is off, and the block is coming out tomorrow. The turbo is ruined, and so is the exhaust manifold (suprise). The chosen replacement as of now are B&B Tri-Flow headers.

I've been scouring PCA Panorama, forums and sites, and the two turbo's i've looked the most at are the Lindsey Sport Turbo, and the Vitesse Stage I. However, I cant find any information on comparison of the two. Maybe I have trouble reading?
I'm concerned about the spool-up time, and I want to make sure that I dont get a turbo "too big" (k27?).
Is the k26-8 a viable option? Or will I get better performance out of the Lindsey/Vitesse?
Anyone with any experience with a Kokeln?
This car is going to be a daily driver for the next 2 years. If theres something else I should be looking at, please, let me know!

You guys seem like the experts. Thanks for your time!

Have you started looking at ways to increase and control fuel for the new turbo? Some/most will require new injectors, new chips (or a piggyback fuel controller that is adjustable), most people when adding new / bigger turbos switch to a MAF and eliminate the stock barn door air metering system....just some things to think about. Dont count out the K27/6 and also look into wastegates - biggest bang for your buck on a turbo IMHO. Im sure I left something out but head over to the turbo board and do a search. Lots of great info from the past!
