AMEN!!

Good stuff, it is. But, just like every other chemical/product, it has its limitations, and applications. Make SURE you know the limitations of each, when you decide to use it somewhere. I also, would NOT use this here.

If ya even remotely like the car, do it correctly, or get someone else to make the repair correctly. Hellicoil/timesert, at the very least.

At least i'm honest and i'd let you know. And if i wanted to get the dollar for the car i'd whip teh pump off and fix it. But why fix what's not broke?

I'm not goign to be selling the car anyhow, so not an issue. :P Or at least i'd sell it off of mailing lists where i'd get more for it anyhow.

Good news, I think I fixed the hole. I went out and got a M6 tap and went trough it (not sure if I went far enough) and now a bolt screws in with a wrench although I can't get it through much with my fingers and I'm not sure if it will go deep enough but I thinks it should be okay.

there is still some metal from the old bolt stuck to the sides at the very top I think the surface is flat for the new paper gasket to sit. I'll still use silicone gasket maker to make sure it doesn't leak.

I was lucky I didn't go higher than 13/64 drill size or the hole would have been too big. I did however go on up just for a few mm but I don't think that'll matter.

thanks for the help, I'm glad I didn't try my glue it in idea......

Well that is good news. Any useable threads you have in there will be better than nothing. Just space the bolt with washers if it bottoms out before pulling the waterpump in. This is if you dont feel comfortable for some reason tapping a little farther, which would be the better choice. Like I said in your other thread "The Right Stuff" gasket maker is the best. I use it with no gasket at all on waterpumps and it has never failed.

Congrats. I'd go with another stud, rather than a bolt, to reduce the chance of pulling out the remaining threads.
