Default 968 door handle assembly *DONE*

I received my 968 handles yesterday. They didn't come from a 968 but are brand new and in 15+ pieces (springs, pins etc...)

Does anyone have a writeup on how to put it together? I have icat's writeup on how to install them on the door but how do you assemble the actual handle?

Thanks for the help in advance.

I found it pretty intuitive once I got the old handles off. I believe Clark's has a writeup as well. I used it in conjunction with icat's and everything went swimmingly

I think I just figured it out after looking at my old handles. They operate almost the same. Have you taken the old handles off yet?

Dang that was quick!!

Start with the rosettes. They slide in and then attach with a screw. (Everything is marked with a L and a R side - pay attn!)

I would take one handle off the car at a time and just start comparing pieces. It will make sense once you start looking at how everything works. Some of my pins were an absolute pain to remove as well. Some decent force may be needed!! First one will take forever, second one will be a breeze.

My rosettes were not threaded, and the provided screw didn't do ****. I had to resort to epoxy. (Blasphemy! - I know...)

Like everyone else has said, use Keith's instructions to get one handle off, and you should be able to figure it out. I just did this last week.

One of my rosettes fell off - the screw didn't do diddly. I have a new one and will epoxy it into place

i just installed mine about 3 months ago, same package as you have. everything worked fine, but now for some reason the black lever doesnt pull on anything and i cant open my doors from the outside. i believe a piece of the handle broke off. But i dont understand how that could be possible from just opening the door. any ideas anyone?

Just speculation, but its it possible the operating arm popped off the ball on the latch? Did you get that to pop into place real snug? Or is this a problem with both handles?

I don't know how this happened, but on mine the light for the central locking switch now stays on all the time. Everything works, but that switch was never lit before.

Michelle, I used a gel-type super glue on the rosette. It seems to be holding fine. One word of caution though. The fumes were attracted to oils left behind from my fingers. Fortunately there wasn't much because the handles were brand new, and I was able to clean it up. If you use something similar, make sure to really clean everything first.
