Default What should I do with a spare S2?

OK.... I'm at a p-car impass and I need some Rennlist inspirations.

I have a high mileage S2 (coupe, 172k miles, white/linen) located in NorCal. It has Rennlist history -- I got the car from Jason_86_951 last summer, and it was in Legoland951's stable before that. I acquired the car, dealt with some issues, and lent it out to a close friend for the past year. I have the car back but I have no space, no need, nor any inclination to keep it long-term.

Here's the dilemma:

I know that any money/time/sweat putting into this car is pretty much unrecoverable. So financially best option is to sell the car is and let the next schmuck deal with the issues (a couple of cosmetic issues, cam chain tensioner -- and in the next two years, timing belt and clutch).

But then I don't want to end up being that bastard PO . So the more satisfying option is going to be to deal with the issues. But if I do that, I'm going to want to make sure the car ends up in the right hands of an enthusiast, which will take time to sell.

Plus, the market for high mileage S2's are very slow and crowded here. There's a local 'lister who has been trying to get rid of his S2 for the entire summer -- I think at a fair price. There are two super-high mileage S2 (230+k miles) listed locally for only $3k. Heck, a decent looking S2 cab just sold nearby for only $6k -- in addition to the two non-local S2 cabs that sold on eBay for only $5k last week. Seems like noone wants an S2 these days....

Maybe I should keep the car as a spare -- but I already have a beater track car, a fair-weather toy, and a garage queen! Plus, there's a 951 project that's beckoning my call....

What to do.... what to do....

Hey selling off a car that needs work is fine. You are only a nasty PO if you advertise it as "excellent, needs nothing".

dump it or keep it.
i dont think there is much in-between with anyone who has knowlege of what these cars require for maintenance or over time. Any "issues" just compound that fact.

I myself, have come to the realization to just "keep it."

my suggestion is to just sell it, as is, with full disclosure.

fix it- i'm going to need an S2 for erika in the future, or a spare for when the 951 feels like being a finicky bitch.

but yeah- you're only a bastard PO if you dont disclose all the stuff wrong with it.

What to do.... what to do....
Yeah, I don't get it. I wouldn't mind selling mine, its 157k miles looks like 57k miles and I couldn't justify selling it for much less than 7k. I've fixed everything wrong with the car and I would get killed if I sold it for less than 7k. I guess they are just bottoming out depreciation-wise. If you look at 914's for example, the 1974 Limited Editions are starting to get really pricey, like well over $10k for decent examples. So I guess its just a timing thing.

+1 for selling, w/ full disclosure of course.

You're not a bastard po if you disclose what needs to be done, and haven't "upgraded" the stereo or used duct tape as a permanent fix

I vote sell with disclosure. I only wish I could afford to buy it for the spares!

Does giving it to a recovering porschaholic count as a good cause?
