Default At the shop and I'm thinking...

How freakin simple the transmission short shifters are to make and how NICELY the car shifts with it. Why the hell are places charging 150+ (200+ at 944online) for this??

I think I'm gonna make 2 more for the other 944s in the driveway...

I also made a set of spacers for my red car and silver car to bring the wheels out exactly flush with the fenders. The 15x8 fuchs sitting right on the edge of the rear fender on the guards car looks AWESOME!!

Next up is to finish powder coating in the intake manifold , cam tower, and the metal plate that goes under the distrib. cap. ..

Got to get back to the real work before the boss comes! I wish the 944 was as easy to work on as the formula car. Unbolt the body and everything is there. Try doing a gear change on a 944 in 1h30m

Pointless post, but I'm pretty pleased with how the new 944 is starting to look. Even the paint on the frame rails/strut towers/etc shines up enough to see my reflection

Now to make the delrin bushings for my sways..

Are you doing machine work now? I am a CNC lathe programmer/operator - make stuff for my various hobbies all the time. Would you mind sending me a drawing for the short shifter? - I need to make five of them for our cars.......

I'd rather buy a shifter from you guys than someone else..so if you make some I'm in. Also, Sharky...did you get the codes from those colors I sent ya?

I "think" they mean "on the transmission" not the shifter in the cabin

Sharky with the CNC skills you have and availability I have to believe you have done tons of cool stuff!

Because they can, because it's a small market, and because people will pay that for them. Good quality heim joints can get pretty expensive, although I'm not sure what brand the Weltmeister and Welt. knockoff short shifters are. A decent alternative is that joint replacement metal piece that fits the stock shift linkage. It eliminates any rubber and is under $100.

At least it isn't as bad as front strut tower bars for 944's! The average FSTB is worth about $20-50 if that, unless it's using exotic materials (CF, Ti, etc) or has something unique about it. Look at the Taiwan mass-produced knockoff Nissan 240sx strut bars on Ebay. I bought a F/R pair for my brother's 240sx buyitnow for $23! 944's? $150-300? People can argue all they want but the purpose of a FSTB is a piece of metal to tie the strut towers together. It doesn't matter what kind of quality it is as it will still serve the same purpose and operate just as well. An FSTB is such a minimal suspension "mod" anyways that it's pretty ridiculous to pay ~$200-300 for one anyways.

Testarossa, come on now. You should know that the only acceptable non-stock shifters are the hurst T-handle or autozone LED skull shifters. j/k

Hey adrial, it's not for a school but for the machine shop I work at (shrimp and peas fabrication) my boss (the owner) aces a few formula atlantic cars and thats what David (runs the shop..built RSRs for pro teams in the late 70s!) and I work on and crew at the track for him. Been doing it since last December, but not regularly until about 3-4 months ago. Before that I helped build the shop and revonate the building (and other buildings the owner has) and was his yard monkey. I'm pretty pleased with how my job has progressed

now back to work. I brought the digi cam I can snap some pics of the shop/car if you are curious

Yea, if any of you start making sort shifters put me on the list!!!!!

so I was reading a little and the SS is not a shifter for the cabin? its actually part of the linkage in the rear? I'm new to 944's so how do they work? sounds very cool (read that as very complex.. p-car style ).

thanks
