Default Any other '83s on original clutches?

I'm starting to wonder if I have the oldest (actively running) 944 remaining with its original clutch. Build date 2/83 and the clutch is fine. Anybody else have an '83 with the original clutch?

Now watch it disintegrate in a week.

I'm sure mine does, but no proof of it and the Odometer was dead when I got the car. So really I have nothing to boast.

You have a rubber centered clutch. If the rubber center starts falling apart (becomes brittle/crappy over age) you get this real bad drivetrain lash when you get on/off the gas. The clutch is probably only on its metal tabs at that point and s hould be replaced.. wears out your ring and pinon (I'd guess from the shock of the lash being transmisited) and blow your tranny...happened to me, kind of a pain in the ***.

replace with spring center clutch and its great

'87 924S w/135,000 & '87 951 w/165,000, Both original and both in the process of being replaced.
Which brings up a question. How do you get that plastic shift tube out of the way when you drop the trans?

Oh well, it's up there. Maybe top 10.

Mine has 130k, but I was going more by age of the car. Mileage is an independent variable, but time affects all cars.

I don't know the build date, but my '83 has 60,200 miles, original clutch and no problems (I just jinxed myself, didn't I?).

I did the clutch on the 83 at 161K. The rubber was sheared but the actual lining was at least at 50%. It ran great until a teenager started driving it.
